Working Women
it is a fact that most women in our family work for wages. We are carrying on a tradition that has deep roots in our family.
My great grandmother Maples made Hats and sold them because her husband bee died and left her very little in worldly possessing.
Our great grand mother cooper , become a widow because of the civil war, she worked for wages as a cook, loaned money out and drew interest.
The photo in this post is a canning factor, 1933 near green forest AR. Our grandmother Gaddy worked in a canning factory at Denver Ar.
My grand mother Gertie Powell Raised chicken to sell, sold eggs, and did any work she could to make money for the home.
My grandfather appreciated how much she had contributed to the family income but many men have made jokes about their wives "EGG MONEY" while lazing around town spending the egg money.

Patsy, it is nice to know about our Grandmothers and how they survived. We have done as they and did our best to help our families.
I am proud of my egg money.
Working women certainly have every right to be proud, no matter if it's selling eggs or working in a canning factory. Plus, our jobs don't end there...when we come home there's the cleaning, cooking and taking care of children!!! xox
It has always been the same the world over hasn't it - we are strong - dependable, and can survive on little money - will the youngsters of today be able to do the same I wonder?
