The blog i read from the lady at Harrison has got me going. She writing about a teacher her children went to and this teach would ask the children to hold up their hand if they were going to church that Sunday then on Monday she would ask for a show of hand of those who went.
This made me think of the popular way of thinking today of it doesn't matter what you believe just so you believe. I think this is stupid if I believe something I must believe i am right or my belief is worthless.
I saw on the news a couple
of days ago, the Pope said if you were not catholic you were wrong. I am not Catholic but I am with the pope , You have to stand for something or you don't stand for anything.
My point what good did that teacher do by asking her pupils if they were going to church, What church? Probably the main worry with some of the children was would daddy come home drunk and beat mama or would they have food for Sunday? I say get a grip.Face up to what is really going on in this world or just stick your head in the sand until someone kicks you in the rear.
This is all Betty's fault she got me on a tare.

Patsy, I absolutely agree that one must examine their beliefs and then one must live by them with integrity to have a full and meaningful life.
But that teacher was surely thinking those children should live by her beliefs instead of examining and embracing their own. The teacher lost some great learning opportunities with that class, as so many teachers do.
Yep, we'll blame it on Betty - she raised the subject and provoked our comments here. She's good at that, isn't she, and is a much better teacher than the one she wrote about.
You know that here in Missouri that teacher would have lost her job.
When children come to my office, they see a Bible on my desk. I can have it there as it is my desk.
Daddy always told me not to expose my children to beliefs I thought were wrong until they were old enough to decide and had beliefs I had instilled. I have tried very hard to give my children a foundation of beliefs.
Church is just a building...beliefs are in your heart. Patsy, in church all I enjoy very much is the singing of praise, and especially old hyms. I love Fanny Crosby hymns. I love in the cleft of a rock. Very seldom are the sermons very stimulating.
Our beliefs are finally tested as we near our deaths...we can see that what we believe is really who we are. I am very proud to have core beliefs. I know my father shaped the beliefs I have.
Sorry about making you think, Patsy. LOL But, I do agree about having to have core beliefs. Just not having someone else's pushed on me.
I don't believe it is any of a teachers business if the children attend Church. That is not what she is supposed to be teaching.
I certainly do agree with you about believing something and standing firm. If we don't believe in something we will fall for anything.
I had to smile about your yard getting away from you. Mine does that every year about this time. Like you I won't go out in the heat to work. I'm managing to keep the lawns done but oh my goodness! The flower gardens are pathetic!]
My best friend and I always joke about it and say, "old man winter is coming and he'll knock all the weeds down for us, then next spring we can start over again!"
