i remember helen was up on the roof helping clayton. don't know where she is in photo , probably hiding because daddy told her she would have to help clayton.
The next time it was roofed was in the 70's whe he remodeled the house. He and I roofed it all that time. He hired a man to help with the remodeling but he did not help roof. I can't remember his name he had a boy my age and they lived down close to coin. They were new to the area. I want to say it was pronounced 'calf free' But I am sure it was not spelled that way!ha He made the cabinets in the kitchen and did all of the bathroom. That man was there all day alone with Mama and Debby Lee. Daddy must have trusted him a lot because no man was ever on the place without him there.
It might have been me on the truck but It looks like Betty to me. I was there and I remember it. I am sure Pat or Fleta took the picture. I say it is Betty because of the sholder posture. Betty often slumped her sholders and back. .
Even the young ones got in the act back then, didn't they. Today, across the street, there are workmen putting up siding on a house. The children who live there walk by without a look at the work that's going on. It's a different time and we're a different people now.
I was trying to figure out the year this is...Gilbert looks about 4...so 61 plus 4 is about 65 or 66. what year do you think it is Patsy...does it say on the back. If it were summer...I may have been working for Dee fancher for I do not remember roofing the house. Is that dillard's truck or dad's?
