I caught all the pekin pullets except 4 and moved them to the main pen this morning.I have a two foot tall pen and a 4 foot tall pen. i thought this 4 foot pen was hard to get around in until I started catching chickens in the 2 foot pen.
I get up in a new world every day. I have decided to catch my surplus roosters and put them in the 2 foot pen. Betty chicks are in the 4 foot pen and if she tells me when she is coming I will have her birds caught and in my small pen I raised the chick in when I moved them out of the brooder.
Betty doesn't like black chickens, I don't know why, she says she has a black bantam and all she does is set. wait until next spring when my pullets start setting for her.
i am on the move which is good for me.
When I open the lid this morning on my pen to catch the chickens and move them one black pullet got out and flew on the top of my big pen. It is covered with wire so she could not get in, boy was she wild. I got the rake and went on the lower side and got her off the pen but then I couldn't see her and thought I had better leave her along or she will fly all the way to Pottiville Ar. and you know Betty doesn't like black pullets.
soon as I was doing the rest of the feeding I hear PICK,PICK. the pullet is on my porch. when I started in the house she went under the morning glory vine thinking she would hide. I reached under and caught her. She is in the pen telling all the other chicks about the great out side world.
