I went down to my chicken pen yesterday...and thought 'where are all the chickens' for a second I thought maybe something had killed all of them. Well, they were all in the chicken house because it was shady in there. I got the water hose and wetted the entire pen down. they seemed to enjoy the coolest, but soon it was hot again. I am getting only 1 to 3 eggs a day. But it is too hot to cook anything so that is ok.
Shade is absolutely the best in temperatures as high as we are having now. Yesterday I went barefoot and couldn't stand on the rocks for even a second - I thought my foot was frying. Just think how quickly an egg would get "done".
