Snowbush told a tale about a woman who was screaming at the top of her lungs on the street, he sat down and tried to talk to her. She said she had AIDS which she had contracted from a person not a current lover and now she had to tell her lover. She also ask if snowbush thought that drinking water would cure AIDS?
After awhile snowbush moved on not having been able to help in any fashion except to tell her he didn't think water would help. She was still screaming.
I told the bush that I thought it was a mistake to stop in the first place and I would have kept right moving. He ask me if I was a ethical pragmatist? Now I didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about, I sort of understood the word ethical but as for ethical pragmatist I didn't have a clue so I looked for the meaning for ethical pragmatist.
As for ethics I not sure I have any ethics ,people who spend time talking about ethics are usually Governor of South Carolina or Alaska . I am a realist! or to use the big word a Pragmatist!
If I was walking down the street and my sister, brother, son or daughter was screaming to high heaven I would stop and do what ever it took to help my loved one as for anyone else I would go on by or if I felt it was a urgent mater I would call the cops. So I guess the truth is strangers are strange to me and will remain so whether they are screaming or laughing perhaps the best word to describe me is SELFISH.

Maybe you are just smart enough to realize you would not be able to help anyone standing and screaming in the street...We have a guy here that roams the streets of mesa pushing a cart and yelling to himself also we have people standing on the corners holding 'I'm hungry' signs.....the hungry guy I may be of some help to but the street shouter needs more help than I am equiped to give.... and I know this.....For years there have been one thing I am very good at...I know my limitations....
There are two kinds of poverty...situational poverty and generational poverty.
It is my understanding that anyone in generational poverty would be pretty hard to help anyhow because all they generally want is a handout. That enabling them to continue as they are.
Situational poverty is another matter. That is generally someone who has lost their job and cannot pay their bill but are still looking for a job...any kind of job to pay their bills. They are generally not really wanting help but feel they have to take it until they can get back to work.
Those are the ones we should help. The others we should help until they can find a job...any kind of job. If they are unable to work, there should something they can do to earn their assistance.
It sounds like the person with AIDS has made some bad choices. Sometimes we simply have to live with our bad choices.
