welcome sound

It is 5:30 in the morn and we have the welcome sound of rain on the roof.

My bantam hen has 9 hatchlings and of the first six 4 are pullets all that remains
to be discovered is what sex the 3 half bantams will be.

My chicks will soon be large enough to be relocated into the large chicken pen.

My tomato plants have began to set fruit. since I got such a late start because of bad soil Sammy bought this is the first year I have not had ripe tomatoes by this time of July. Since the plants are late perhaps I will have ripe tomatoes until frost this year.

I am not going to able to keep all of my pullets because I will have too many for the space that I have so I will have to pick the keeps and decide what to do with the others. My brother has said he might like to have some hens if he can get a pen and house built to hold them. I told him I didn't want to supply any more raccoon food.

I think I will cull the 6 hens that are my layers now. I might be able to keep 18 hens in my house and pen, maybe if they are not cramped for room.

You have a good plan going. Your odds on the pullets has been good. Not too many roosters. No rain here. IT is no 7 yet and it's 80 degrees.

We have been getting some rain here, too. I love fresh tomatoes and corn better than anything in the garden. The kittens are so cute.
I would love you to comment on my post about healthcare and get your feelings. Thanks, Patsy.
