I had Sammy build me a new hen nest since when all the hens start laying I will have 33 hens laying and the nest I have were built for my bantams and are sort of small for the big hens. The big hens have never laid in my small nest and I think it is because it the nest are too small. i have the metal nest that I got last year but the big hens have not took to them either so I took this tote that I kept feed in and since the lid was cracked and leaked I had SAM cut a opening in it and with the lid on it makes a nice big nest for the pullets if they decide to lay. They have been looking the nest over for a few days so I think they are looking for a nest.

I have to build bigger nests for my red hens...well, Larry did. They are not as high either.
That is a great idea for nests! I have been using covered cat litter boxes, but this is a better idea, I love it. :)
