love of money the root of all evil

Detroit Michigan,
seems there is a church, west side Bible church in Detroit, and the pastor Rev. Lawrence Adams carries a gun under his robes to protect his flock and his collection plate. The rev. shot a would be burglar in the stomach when the fellow attempted to rob the church.
Jesus said come all you poor and haven ladin and I will give you rest and this pastor says he will give you a shot in the gut.
The Reverend says it getting really bad with all the out of work needing money for their families he has to protect his flock and the church's money with a gun. Remember when Jesus went into the Temple with a whip and ran the money lovers out?
The church better watch for a man with a whip!

I read of another church where the pastor set the collection plate at the front of the church after the offering saying, We will not leave the church until all this money is taken by those in need. No one wanted to come forward and take, but with urging those in need did. I guess that is the other side of the story.

I agree with you, but I'm also aware that Jesus said other--and conflicting--things too. One of my first problems with the Bible was such contradictions. On the one hand, "turn the other cheek," but on the other "sell all you have and buy a sword." If you're going to turn the other cheek, what's the sword for?
