Mama had a copper kittle like this when we live at Carrollton. She washed our cloths in it on a scurb board. Some women use as copper kittle to can pickles in. They had a nice bright green color and then the goverment said the pickles were poision. I never heard of anyone dieing from the pickles never the less they were poision said the goverment.

Well, I guess something leached out of the pot to the pickles. You know if you cook in an iron skillet it adds iron to your food...a good thing.
I think I must have spelled that leach word wrong...I hope you can decipher the meaning.
Even I use a lot of words that young kids do not. They will say what does that mean.
Like gumption? I use that word and no seems to have heard of it but me.
Betty We are all old...and that word came from Momma....do you not remember her using that one also....Great pot Patsy...I wish we had it..
I have my momma's washboard hanging in my laundry room.I think of her every time I look at it. I swear Patsy, I laughed till I cried over that biscuit thing below. I could just imagine that happening to someone! Thanks for a good Friday morning laugh. Hope you have a good weekend.
We didn't have a copper kettle, and I don't recall my mom using a washboard. My mother-in-law, however, still used one occasionally in the 60's. She was a stickler with her laundry, and never did approve of the way I washed (and didn't iron) clothes.
