Terry Bishop

Terry Keith Bishop, resident of Owasso, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in Tulsa at the age of 73. Terry was born July 5, 1940, at Green Forest, Arkansas to Carl and Louise (Cox) Bishop. He was raised and received his education there, graduating from Green Forest High School. On July 20, 1958, Terry and Pat Jowers were united in marriage at Green Forest. They later moved to Tulsa where he worked as a salesman going door to door and later as a milkman. In 1967, Terry joined the Tulsa Police Department as a patrolman, retiring in 1999 at the rank of Corporal. Terry was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. A man of many talents, he enjoyed playing music, first learning the guitar and later the bass guitar and the mandolin. He also enjoyed gardening. Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his daughter, Terri Ann Alexander of Austin, TX; four grandchildren: Desi Moose and husband David of Siloam Springs, AR, Chelsea Westerfield and husband Kevin of Tulsa, Lindsey Alexander of Plano, TX, and Travis Alexander also of Plano. Also surviving are five great grandchildren: Lilian Alexander, Kylin Westerfield, Charleigh Westerfield, Eli Moose and Ethan Moose; and siblings Carolyn Loftis of Green Forest, AR, Pat Kelly Bishop of Green Forest, Rhonda Yarberry of Green Forest, Merrill Bishop of Siloam Springs, AR, and sister in law Emily Bishop of Lincoln, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat, two sons Kelly and Claudie Bishop, and a brother Tommy Kent Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2013, in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Loran McAlister officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Visitation will be Sunday, October 13, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Mowery Funeral Service.
