I remember this like it was yesterday. I was for JFK when he was elected and my husband was a repub and defiantly not for JFK but he watched the whole thing as it played out on TV and never said a word , I am sure he knew that I was so close to the edge that he might have been in mortal danger to say one word against my fallen hero, JFK.
I can hardly believe it has been 50 years!

I remember every minute of that awful weekend, glued to the TV. He was my hero, too.
Mine, too.
Even I remember..I was at grade school and we all walked outside and Mr. Wheeler lowered the flag to half mask! All of the class rooms had a radio on listening to the news about our President. It was such a shock...My how times have changed. now it would not surprise me at all if this happened,... There has been a new book written and in it the Author said...When Robert Kennedy was shot it felt like America's final hope had died. I remember feeling worse when Robert died than when JFK died.
I was just absolutely devastated....I was away at college and it was all so sad and lonely. I called home...log distance, which was a no, no. My Mom was so grief stricken that she could not even talk....somehow...that even made it more sad.
oh I can imagine aunt fleta when JFK died she would have been beyond the pale.
I was a Repub, but not old enough to vote. Doesn't matter, I was devastated too, to know that such a horrible thing could happen in our country. I grieved along with the rest of the country.
