I told my sister the other day I thought Johnsongrass and wild cane was the same plant. I was wrong, Johnson grass was brought to this country in the 1830's from the Mediterranean.
The wild cane is a different plant all together! Wild cane grew in this country when our fore fathers settled here.

It's clear that someone could hide in johnson grass just as they could hide in cane. No wonder one might confuse the two.
