Is that "Cane" as in cane syrup?

No, Tina, this is wild cane, but good forage for animals and it was sweet to taste but was not sugar cane.

It was a haven for settlers. The animals fed on it and there were such huge fields that they could drive out in the middle and camp and not be seen. Many man and animal have laid in the cane field and held their breath to not be found by an enemy.
