It is 34 degrees at 8 am. We had a little rain but no ice. I have bought 3 pounds of yellow onion sets and 10 pounds of potato seed. I am going to try growing some potatoes in boxes when I get son to bring me some good dirt.
Brother who retired a year ago is going back to work, same place as he worked before on the same job. It is always a good feeling to be able to able to go back to where you were before but I think he has lost his mind.
I got 7 eggs yesterday but I had not been in the hen house for 2 days because the lock was frozen shut.
I got a new chicken book yesterday and have been looking and dreaming about new chicks in the spring. Daughter has a cold or something and has missed work.

It must be harder for men to relax into retirement. I have had absolutely no problems making the transition and wouldn't go back to work if someone paid me (hah).
Guess Clayton got tired of being at home...wonder if he got a raise? Will he draw his ss...or put it on hold...because his check will be too much?
At least no ice there today
This is another beautiful little chicken, I'm assuming he's a rooster. Don't laugh, I'm a city girl, was only around chickens when I visited my Grandmother who had a chicken coop in this small town she lived in, and was allowed at that time, and my one aunt and uncle that had a farm.
How I love that rooster - and yet more chicks in the spring.
I will have more quails chicks too.
