Son came to visit yesterday and I ask him if he would take the shovel and turn the dirt in my one row garden. I had been working on it but I wasn't able to do much . He said sure and after he turned it he said I needed more top soil. He went home and brought me enough rich dirt and dumped it on top of the dirt he had turned.
Today I planted lettuce and onions and I will have fresh onions and lettuce in a few weeks.
I wish you could have seen my 8 black baby chicks running and playing this after noon in the sun shine. They were so cute. I called the hatchery today to confirm my order for the red sex linked chickens. They said I would receive them on the 7 day of May. I will be 70 years old the 3 day of May so they will be a birthday present.
My winter hatch has made me a gain of 2 pullets. One is a pekin/Rhode island mix and the other is a out of one of my small bantam hens and the old English game rooster. They are both black. sister 3 doesn't like black chickens so I guess she wont want any of my bantams this year since all the chicks are coming out black.
We had a nice spring day today sunshine all day.The wild cherry trees have small green leaves blooms will follow soon .

The wild cherry are blooming here. I will post a picture tomorrow of the blooms so you can see that we are alittle ahead of you.
I don't need any black banties...about half of those I got from you are almost black...you tricked me. They lay white eggs so Iguess it does not matter.
The lady from church that I give eggs today...gave me 3 huge bags of shelled pecans when I took her eggs today. It pays to give is the moral of that story. The pecans are big nice halves.
It was almost 80 here today. I enjoyed the day.
It's the best thing in the world to have someone with a strong back and a good shovel come over in the Springtime.
My best to you, Patsy.
