sexing welsummer chicks

rooster
hen

male

female

Female welsummer chicks have a well defined v shape on the head as well as a black line under the eye . The male has a less defined v shape on head more blurred and no line under the eye.
The welsummer chicken was brought to this country from Holland, where they where called Wesumer. Welsumer was a villager where they were developed.
Wesummers lay dark brown eggs best described as the color of a red clay flower pot. The hen resembles a brown leghorn but slightly heaver and the cock looks much as a brown leghorn rooster. These chickens stand confinement well and are not know to be a good winter layer.
laying about 160 eggs per year which is not good.
