another grandaughter

This is another granddaughter she just graduated from college along with her husband my good friend Barbara Wade's son. They are seeking work as teachers. Her mother and father went to see her graduate and we are proud of her as we are proud of all of my grandchildren.
I might know a few stories to tell you about Casey but I wont because I am afraid of her she has a temper like her grandmother.

watering the veg.

I have finished my chores and while I was out I turned the water on and watered my pot garden. I lived where water was in shot supply and I can tell you I enjoy my water supply and having enough water to do what I wish with it.
Fleta came by yesterday and brought me a sack of new potatoes and we had a good visit and a few laughs together.
While I was at my son's I got to see my granddaughter Jessie Ann. Jessie married an illegal alien and he has been deported or when home of his free will. Jessie has gone there to meet his family and to see her husband. El Salvador is where he lives and I enjoyed hearing about her experiences in a foreign land.
I have several stories to tell but will only tell you one today because of a shortage of time.
Jessie was very uncomfortable, the weather was hot and the family has a very primitive life so Jessie and her husband went to rent a hotel for a couple of days. To get to the Hotel involves walking a mile to on a dirt road to a paved high way and then waiting for a bus and riding the bus to town.
There they rented a room in the only hotel in town that had a swimming pool and air conditioning room. The pool was fine but the air condition was not working and so my granddaughter declared they were leaving and she wanted her money returned for the second day. The owner maintained that the air was working and Jessie told him that she was from THE UNITED STATES and new what air condition was and his wasn't.
Her husband told her it was fine with him if they went home but they would have to walk. Jessie said she didn't care they were leaving! Jessie thought it was 3 miles? They started walking along the river, they live near a large river and her in- law fish for food for the family, anyway along came these friends in this small boat who offered to give them a ride home . Hurrah NO MORE WALKING. Jessie is like me being of a stout so the young men explained that she was to set in the middle of the boat. She sat in what she considered the middle but the boat owners said she must move to another seat not being a sailor and not familiar with boating Jessie couldn't get up and move. The young men and her husband had lift her and deposit her where she was to sat and they were on their way.
Since Jessie has came into the family their standard of living has rose. They have electricity, a oscillating fan and refrigerator for cold water and a flush toilet in a out side building with a cloth hung over the door. These were all Jessie's purchases. They also eat meat while Jessie is visiting. My granddaughter said she couldn't eat beans every meal. Purchasing the meat was a excursion in it self, The 3 sister-in-laws and the mother-in-law and Jessie walk to the high way and catch a buss to town where Jessie buys MEAT. She said getting it home took all hands and the cook. They had to pack it from the bus stop to the house but they had meat to make Tamales wrapped in banana leaves and cooked on a wood fire on the back porch, The families kitchen.
I expect that Jessie's in-laws enjoy her visits.

for your enjoyment

In the news

Gary Colman, child star died yesterday, he played Arnold as a child and I remember he was suffering from kidney failure as a child if I remember correctly he had two kidney transplant . he was 42 years old and had lived longer than he was expected to live when he was a child.
Obama paid a visit to the Louisiana coast yesterday, I saw on TV a lot of people complaining that he needs to do some thing, What can he do except wring his hands and say this is a disaster? DRILL BABY DRILL!
I did read BP brought in 400 hundred workers to work on the clean up while he was there paying them 12 dollars a hour and then laying them off as soon as Obama cleared the air space. Should anyone be surprised that a OIL company would do such a deed ?
Bill Clinton was in Arkansas yesterday to help Lincoln get the votes and Mrs. Lincoln trouble with the labor union was put under the magnify glass along with Clinton and the NAFTA law which has been a death blow to the American workers.

BLANCHE LINCOLN AND BILL CLINTON SENT OUR JOBS TO MEXICO AND CANADA
Bill Clinton and Blanche Lincoln took us in the wrong direction when they supported NAFTA. They sent thousands of Arkansas jobs to Mexico and Canada, and yet they're still bragging about their support of the job-killing deal. When it comes to protecting and creating jobs in Arkansas, they just don't get it .

flowers

I get up at sun rise and everyone else is still a bed so a few days ago I noticed my neighbors touch me- not- flowers were growing thick and fast at the base of her trailer, she has moved into a new trailer a few feet back from the old trailer anyway I went over and took a few of her plants and put them in my flower bed by the house. She had ask me last year if I wanted some touch-me nots and I said no at the time so I figured she wouldn't shoot me if she happen to see me.
This morning I decided to get some more and I went to ask permission since her husband was out there and would see me. The first plants I stole are living but I went to water the new one awhile ago and I think they have died already! I should have stole the new plants, maybe I will in the morning.

Talking Parrot

Dog vs. Chicken

chickens and marigolds

It was easy to feed this morning all the chickens were all under one roof. Donnie and his wife came over and put another chain link fence around this pen because they said the dogs would tare in there next or try too.
The neighbor got some beer under his belt yesterday and he went down and jumped on to the people who have the boxer dogs that killed the chicks.
I transplanted some zucchini squash in the hay where the brooder was. I gave the brooder to Donnie and he took it home. I also moved a few of my marigold plants to that bed so even in troubles there can be joy someday.
I still have 22 chickens and that is plenty for me. I just get the chicken fever every spring and go over board.

don't count your chickens

Sammy woke me this morning at 4 O'clock and told me the neighbors dogs were in my chick brooder Alas The dogs killed all my month old chickens.
I have the 10 easter egger chickens that are 2 months old and I am trying to figure away to keep the dogs from busting in that pen too.

chicken garden

I planted some things in the chicken yard and now I have tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, zinnias and marigold growing in the pen.
We had rain yesterday and my bedding plants I put in the old stick pile is standing up very well. I put flowers there for people to see as they drive by.
The young chicks weathered the rain just fine. I was a little concerned since I had turned their heat light off. I had had light in the coup for over two months and with the cost of electrify that is another expense.
I have tomatoes blooming.

come on girls this is fun.

eyes have it

I have finished the morning chores and I made a roost for my youngest chicks since I will have to leave them in the small coup for awhile . I have turned one chicken pen into a garden and want be able to use it until fall or until the tomatoes die.
I watered my new flowers yesterday with a hose. Sammy got me a extra hose so I could reach the new flower bed.

Touch-me-nots

An annual plant with pink, white, lilac or crimson flowers growing along the stem. Each blossom has a columbine-like spur on the back. Sometimes called Touch-Me-Not as seeds explode from ripe pods when touched. I got some of the Touch-me-not which is a kind of inpatients or Balsam plant. I have put some in my new flower garden but I decided to put the rest up near the house so they will have shade in the evening. I will put them in the ground when the sun goes over the yard arm.

chris

during the Democrat primary Chris Matthews was so anti-Hillary person that I quite watching his program every night but I do flip by once in a while to see the old Tip O'Neill fan.
I was never so thrilled with Obama as Matthews was but I have noted a small crack in the love feast from Matthews when reporting on Obama's presidency and now I am feeling more comfortable in my lack of Obama worship when Matthews begins to yell foul I can also with a little less guilt.
This is what Chris had to say about Obama and the gulf oil disaster....The MSNBC anchor, once so enamored with Barack Obama that he admitted a campaign speech sent a thrill up his leg, has now told Jay Leno that Obama scares him.
"The President scares me," Matthews said of Obama's response to the Gulf oil spill disaster. "He's been acting a little like a Vatican Observer here. When is he actually going to do something?
I know Obama promised change and he has done that, he changed the war in Afghanistan it is larger than the Bush war. He promised to end the war and I say WHEN?

wal-mart

Went to wal-marts if anyone shows up here in the early morning hour tomorrow I will put them to work.

whole lot of shaken going on!

This is Kelly's dog he said it is an Australian Shepard.

A 2.6 magnitude earthquake shook areas near Cave Springs in Benton County about 7 pm Thursday night.
The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed a 2.6 magnitude earthquake two miles northwest of Cave Springs and 3.1 miles below the earth's surface.
The report indicates the earthquake happened two miles northwest of Cave Springs, four miles east-northeast of Highfill and six miles west-southwest of Rogers . This is the second earth quake they had over there. One was reported in April.

I am going to town when Janet gets up. I am thinking about buying some plants and making a flower bed.

busy day

I have had a busy day, Kelly came over and he and Donnie loaded the last of the stick pile on Donnie's truck and I made breakfast at noon for my children. I took a long nap this afternoon and George brought me some hay for my chick pen after I got hay in the two pens I watched the chicks play king of the mountain.

Old barns

I like to see old barns. They remind me of my youth and the carefree days of summers long ago. The old barn where we played and where we worked . When I See old barns I remember the smell of fresh mowed hay, the smell of the milk cows when they came in from the field. The sights and smells of long ago are with me now when I gaze on an old barn vacant and still. Patsy

Burkholder said it best.

Old Man Calling
Still standing,weathered and kanted.
A thousand winds could not topple this old man.The keeper of Hay, and apples, vinyard concorde,Purple.
Sweet days of buzzing things,The pungeant aroma of grain freshly threshed. The scythe is rusted and tired now.
Percheron brethern, buried and memorialized just behind him.

roses

My small pink rose is in full bloom. I wish there wasn't so much grass growing in it but I can't pull the grass because the thorns on this bush are bad.
Another rain filled day for today.
Blanche Lincoln failed to get a majority in her bid in the Democrat primary so that means she will be in a run off. I got 4 phone called the last few days that stated I am a volunteer for Blanche Lincoln and then I would hang up now I guess I will have more calls. I can not understand how someone thinks by calling again and again they will gain you vote.
Fleta told me one time when she got unwanted phone calls she would start talking to the person nonsense and they never called back maybe I will try that to get rid of vote for Blanche phone calls .

sexing welsummer chicks

It is easy to see the difference in the pullets and roosters of the welsummer breed at this age and I have 6 pullets and 2 roosters. the red breast chick is female and the black breast chick is male.
When they were arrived in the mail I tried to sex them by the eye liner method and I had 8 pullets so the chicks I killed were pullets.
The sun is shining but we are supposed to get heavy rain this after noon.

misleading or

'The days that I served in Vietnam'The newspaper cited a 2008 speech in Norwalk, Connecticut at a ceremony honoring veterans and others who sent gifts to U.S. troops overseas in which Blumenthal said, "We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam."

Richard Blumenthal who is running for Chris Dodd's senate seat has according to his staff made misleading statement of his service in Vietman when he in fact received 6 deferment during the Vietnam war and never sat foot in Vietnam. he says misleading I say lies. and liar.

The men who served in Vietnam don't want to remember being there and fools like this guy wants to pretend he was there.

wet backs and videos

Zeituni Onyango, does this name ring a bell? she is the aunt of Obama who was going to be deported while her nephew was learning the ropes of being top guy. Top guy has learned his job.
Miz. Onyango has been granted asylums and will be allowed to stay in this country. The report stated it wasn't really clear as to why she had been allowed to stay in this country, really?

Sister has been in California I hope she has her papers with her when she arrives back in Arizona, if not she could be deported to the land of her birth. Arkansas her she comes.

A sunny dry day has been promised here, I certainly will be glad for it. While I am on the subject of sisters the teacher sister has posted the funniest video of a squirrel I wish I knew how to steal it, I would post it for you but since I don't have the knowledge you ought to go visit her blog and see the video " squirrel in a bottle" it is cute to say the least. Here is the link.. http://gallacreek.blogspot.com/ or you could just click the name Betty in my side bar.
The Renfroe girls have cornered the market on videos, Erin posts videos of her son Clayton and Betty has taken up the habit and her videos are about wild life or perhaps I should say life in the wild.
I suspect the bird feeder in sis's video was a invention of her better half he should have took out a patient on the bird feeder he would have made millions.

I sent to town for more dirt and I am going to dig out the dirt tony brought me and put in the town dirt in a couple more tires. The squash I had that sprouted is drying and it has to be that red dirt Tony brought me so I am going to do a switch and plant more seeds.

Kelly came over and did some brush hogging yesterday so now we have a tractor setting in the yard. I wish it was equipped with plows I would go out and plow up the neighborhood and sow some wild oats. You have a good sun shine day.

Charlie, do you have a lite?

People who are hooked on tobacco have problems giving up the cigarette. Charlie Sheen has been convicted of beating his wife and will have to serve 45 days in jail but what is worrying Charlie is doing with out cigarettes for 45 days. His lawyer has ask the jailers to relax their no smoking policy for the actor but the jail keeps have said no way, I am sure if charlie will slip his keepers some cold cash he will get to smoke all he wants.
I have read that if you have the cash you can buy any thing while behind bars cigarettes should not be a problem.

the chicks

27 days old today. the rain has worried me about these chicks but they seem to be fine.

2 months old today these are the chicks I bought at the feed store march 17. they are easter eggers maybe I will have blue eggs for sale in October. Sammy has become excited about the blue egg laying chickens. he said they sold eggs at the sale for one dollar a dozen but the blue eggs sold for 4.50 a dozen. he is counting the money we will make when he can take blue eggs to the sale .
The sun is suppose to shine some today and it isn't going to rain for 2 days says the weatherman. I hope he is correct.
