the real McCoy

When McCoy the family pet went to mark his territory on a lamppost - as dogs are prone to do - little did he know it would be the most hair-raising tinkle he had even taken.
After lifting his leg to relieve himself, a split second of relief turned to shock that made his coat stand on end when he was zapped by hundreds of volts.
Little did the crossbreed realise, vandals had removed the protective metal plate from the lamppost leaving exposed live wires.
The current travelled along his stream and left him howling with pain.
When McCoy came in the house howling his hair was standing on end and his owner decided what had happen to him. no more pissing on light pole for this dog.

caught

I had no clue which of my EE chickens were laying until yesterday when I happen to open the hen house door and found this hen on the nest. She is one of the EE who doesn't have a beard but she lays a nice green egg. She looks like a wyandotte hen. Clayton has her egg since he came up yesterday and I sent him home with 18 eggs.

stop thief

If you live in the country on a dead end road you better lock your doors when you leave. It may not stop your being robed but it will slow them down My brother knows that now.
someone crawled through my neighbors window and stole a TV in the day time.

colored eggs

two Easter eggers hens are laying and I think there are 3 because some how I think 1 egg I got was bluer.
cool again this morning here.
I dug up one of my pepper plants and put it in a pot on the porch. One time long ago I had a pepper plant in a pot and kept it all winter. It made a nice pot of soup on a cold winter day.

hens and keets

46 degrees here this cool fall morning. Since it has cooled the chickens and keets are eating more and act hungry when I get there in the morning.
One blue egg again and I am tired of waiting for the other Easter eggers to lay. I got two eggs one day last week and then only one every other day.
Fleta finally posted. i suppose she has been busy at work . They have had a burger king audit. One of the bosses told her I don't know what we would do if we lost the burger king contract. We might be out of a job. Fleta told him I know what I would do if I lost my job I would file for unemployment and social security the next day. It is always wise to have a plan. Fleta will be 63 years old in January.
No kittens on the porch this morning. I saw a dead mole in the yard this morning. maybe it is a piece offering from the cats. I am tired of them laying on my porch I think it is time they went out into the world and looked for mice.

Mary Ingalls

I was watching this movie last evening and it had lots of pretty scenery and I was enjoying it when all at once I realized what a farce it was, it was the story of Mary Darper Ingles escaping from her Indian captors . Mary and the old German woman were walking along a river in dresses with ruffles and petticoats when I remember reading that when the woman arrived home they were Naked. I couldn't watch the movie any more after that.

in the year 1755, New River Gorge was the site of one of the great stories of survival and endurance in American history. In that year the New River area was the far western frontier of English colonial settlement, and England and France were at war for control of North America.

Mary Draper, the daughter of Scotch- Irish immigrants, was born in Philadelphia in 1731. Following a common migration route, her family eventually settled on the far western frontier of the colony of Virginia, on the present day site of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Here, Mary’s, family along with several other families, established a small farming settlement called Drapers Meadows. She married her neighbor, William Ingles and together they built a homestead and began raising a family.

The French and Indian War, like all wars, brought its worst horrors to the civilian peoples caught in its path. In July Drapers Meadows was attacked by warriors of the Shawnee nation, who were allied with France. Three men, one woman and an infant child were killed; one man, two women and two young boys were taken captive. Among these captives were Mary Draper Ingles and her two sons, Tommy, 4 and George, 2.

The captives began an intense forced march to the Shawnee’s home villages near present day Chillicothe, Ohio. To slow down or complain would have meant death for Mary and her children. On arrival at the Shawnee towns her two boys were taken from her for adoption into the tribe and Mary was given into servitude to a French trader.

By October, Mary, and another captive, known from history only as the “old Dutch woman” (the term ‘Dutch” at that time referred to German immigrants), had planned an escape.

The two women made their escape into a vast rugged wilderness in the face of an oncoming winter with no supplies, maps or equipment. Their determination to endure and the plan to follow the Ohio, Kanawha, and New rivers eastward to English settlements was their only hope of survival.

There are some who do family research that believe that the old German women was Jacob Goldmans wife if so she is in our Goldman family line. There is a list of captives and it says the wife of old dutch Jacob's wife. now where the man's last name was Goldman I don't know but there was a Jacob Goldman in the area.

The gift that keeps on giving

We have a duzzie in Christina O'Donnell she can put Sarah Palin in the shade, she admits to having dabbled in witch craft, she thinks sex education should be only telling people to refrain from having sex and believes that people will follow her lead and become chaste. She says man didn't evolve from the monkey and uses as proof that monkeys are not evolve into man at this time and I would say she has proved that evolution is true she seems to have some monkey traits. Even Sarah Palin admits she has sex. She couldn't very will be a denier having born 5 children. Christine O'Donnell, the Delaware candidate for United States Senate, is homophobic, she refuses to give interviews to anyone but Fox News, she recorded an anti-masturbation video that's downright creepy, and she was a media consultant to the sado-masochistic Mel Gibson movie The Passion of the Christ. She's never served as an elected official, and in fact has no relevant political experience .

I hope the tea party will keep bringing us such candidates I think any Democrat with a lick of common sense could defeat them.

walnut money

It is 5 in the morning and I have had what you might call a long winter nap except it is fall not winter. Any Way I am having trouble with my computer I suppose Janet has been on a down loading spree while I was asleep.
I went to visit" Just me" up Kansas city way and couldn't get to her comment section. computer kept freezing up. I thought something was wrong with her site but now I think it is my computer.
Her post was about gathering black walnuts and that got me to thinking about me and Richard gathering walnuts when we were young. We gathered them to sell. It was a family operation we got the walnut to the house then mama would hull them then daddy took them to market., In case you think we got to spend the money forget it The money was for what ever we needed at that time which was usually a lot of things like shoes and cloths and maybe a sack of flour.
When my children were young we would take a day off me from work and them from school and we would gather walnut. I usually had a minimum wage job so we really made more money picking up walnuts in one day than I made in a week.
Just to show how my life has changed I was looking at our walnut tree that I share with my neighbor it is on his side of the fence but hangs over my chicken pen, I was looking and the tree is loaded and I was thinking Oh, no not again. I have to keep the walnut knocked off the chicken wire on top of my chicken pen and it is a chore, The walnuts are heavy enough that they will harm the covering on my pen. I guess you could call that an unwanted wind fall.
Talk about a wind fall the drinking neighbor told Sammy yesterday he had got a 3000 dollar check in the mail from a gas company in Texas. He said he had never heard of this company. I wonder if it could have been BP?
He said he was going to cash the check of course it could all be a big lie. maybe he will come back wanting SAM to cash the check. lots of luck with that.
Sister in Arizona called and she was doing good and the Arkansas sister who has the 2nd storey man for a husband called and they are still working on her windows
I told her when she called George the window man made me think of a 2nd. storey man or a cat burglar.

blue/green eggs

I got green/blue eggs one a time except one day I did get two in one day. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come . I want hens that lay regularly.
The people who see the blue/green eggs think they are a asset to the dozen . I have 10 of the red sex links in my pen and I get 6 to 9 eggs a day and I expect the green/blue eggs to do the same or they will not be around long

saturday

The hens were hungry this morning They were trying to get out the gate as I was trying to get in to feed. One red hen escaped and I a problem trying to get her back in with out the other hens making their get away.
I was later than usual in feeding I haven't felt well all week and I just dread trying to get my job done in the morning.
We are having a nice cool morning again. I read sister in Phoenix post and I am wondering why the cops came and got Benjamin's teacher. Oh so many unknowns. I hope sister posts and tells us what fruits and vegetables she gets.
Sammy has been going and raiding the neighbors apple tree. He says they are good but with no teeth I will have to take his word for that.
Today is Saturday and Janet has the same aliment I have only she complains more and does a lot of talking about going to the hospital. We both need a good purgative.
I wish sisters would post more . Fleta is just lazy I think she averages posting ever two weeks if that. Plus every time I call there she says "this is Fleta and we can't come to the phone at this time." I dialed her number yesterday and got that message. I was glad because I had intended to call Clayton and wish him happy birthday.

vertice

Gerald Calahan guilty of rape and murder in the death of Jackie Johns. life in prison with out prole.
I talked to sister today in Phoenix and she is doing fine.

Old friends are passing

Seems to me this is the week of death, Fredia Powell has died. I worked with Fredia at Ocoma poultry plant in Berryville Arkansas when her children were youngsters she was married to my 2nd cousin. Fredia had lived a long and productive life.
I had a deep respect and affection for Fredia.
I remember when we bought out the company store at Tyson. I saw Fredia enter the break room and turn to the company store and I followed her to visit. The company was selling steak and as I waited to visit with Fredia the old gal who was in charge was telling Fredia she could only purchase one box of steak.
Fredia was disappointed but not for long because I went to the freezer and took a box of steak and went to stand behind Freida. I told my friend "Fredia I want these steak will you pay for mine?"
Fredia said sure rang up her box also The clerk did and then I told Freida you take my box to your house and I will come by and get them after I get off work. The clerk was mad as a old wet hen but Fredia got her steak.
Jessie Mae Elmore died yesterday she was 85 and I work with her years ago at Tyson. Jessie went through a hard time while she worked with us. Her husband had deserted her and took up with some jazabelle. Jessie would not give him a divorce so he could marry his tramp. He did everything mean and low down he could to Jessie Mae but she would not give him a divorce.
Some time fate takes a hand and this time it did. Jessie Mae's husband got cancer a fast acting cancer and he was not long for this world. His new love dumped him and he came home to Jessie Mae and would you believe she took him in and she nursed him until he died.
I worked at Tyson food at Berryville with Bobbie Bailey and I read in the paper that her husband passed away. I feel like this is the week of deaths.

froggy

1996) Two local men were seriously injured when their pickup truck left the road and struck a tree near Cotton Patch on state Highway 38 early Monday morning. Woodruff County Deputy Dovey Snyder reported the accident shortly after midnight Monday.
Thurston Poole, 33, of Des Arc, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38, of Little Rock, are listed in serious condition at Baptist Medical Center. The accident occurred as the two men were returning to Des Arc after a frog-giggin' trip.
On an overcast Sunday night, Poole's pickup truck's headlights malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the older model truck had burned out. A replacement fuse was not available, but Wallis noticed that the .22 caliber bullet from his pistol fit perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering wheel column. Upon inserting the bullet, the headlights again began to operate properly and the two men proceeded on eastbound toward the White River Bridge.
After traveling approximately 20 miles, just before crossing the river, the bullet apparently overheated, discharged and struck Poole in the right testicle. The vehicle swerved sharply to the right, exiting the pavement and striking a tree. Poole suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident but will require surgery to repair the other wound. Wallis sustained a broken clavicle and was treated and released.
"Thank God we weren't on that bridge when Thurston (shot his intimate parts off) or we might have been dead," stated Wallis. "I've been a trooper for 10 years in this part of the world, but this is a first for me. I can't believe that those two would admit how the accident happened," said Snyder.

poke berries

wild flowers in the pasture . the poke berries are ripe, can you see them.

3 women gone

These three women disappeared from the home of Sherill Levitt and never been heard from again. It is interesting that Mrs. Levitt was a hair dresser and Gerald Carnahan was one of her customers.
On June 7, 1992, the Springfield, Missouri Police Department was notified of the disappearance of three women from a residence in central Springfield.
The parents of Stacy McCall, one of the missing women, contacted the police department in reference to their daughter's disappearance from the home of Sherrill Levitt and Suzanne Streeter, the other two missing women. Upon officers' arrival, the house bore no signs of a struggle, but rather the appearance of the missing women being abducted. All personal property was left behind including purses, money, clothing, cars, keys, cigarettes, and the family dog.

Jackie Johns

My chickens are doing a lot of bathing dust bathing that is.
I have been read the transcript of the Jackie johns murder trial. they have DNA linking Gerald Carnahan to Jackie Johns and I under stand it is a small amount and I wondered how his lawyer would deal with that DNA evidence. They are not denying that it is his DNA or that it is such a small amount. They are trying to say that the evidence wasn't handled right and some how it was "planted", right 25 years ago some one took Carnahan's DNA and planted in the evidence box and waited 25 years until they developed a test that would test this small amount of DNA then someone had this tested and now they are framing Carnahan .
If you believe that I have a bridge I would like to sell you.
I wondered why he didn't say that the DNA was in her from a earlier date but I guess Carnahan had said he didn't ever have anything to do with her so now he can't say it happened but it was before that night.
The trial is suppose to wind up Tuesday or Wednesday and I suppose the verdict will not be far behind. It is about time .

Pepper sprayed 81 year old

Arrest motivates man to work for sheriff's opponentFriday, August 27, 2010
Anna Mathews Carroll County News

Edward "Blue John" Chevallier is motivated to use his political clout to oust the current county sheriff in the upcoming election because of his recent arrest, which he claims was unjustly brutal. Anna Mathews / Carroll County News
[Click to enlarge]BERRYVILLE -- Eighty-one-year-old Edward "Blue John" Chevallier of Berryville was arrested Aug. 16 on multiple charges after county deputies responded to a complaint phoned in by one of his tenants.
Blue John, who manages 10 rental properties at his mobile home park, located along U.S. Hwy. 62 west of the Kings River Bridge, admits he had an encounter with a tenant but questions the actions that followed when lawmen arrived.
Also in question is the legality of that arrest, according to "Rules of Criminal Procedure," which outlines provisions for warrantless arrests.
He was charged with criminal trespass, harassment, disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest.
Blue John claims he was pepper-sprayed and thrown to the ground, and one deputy stood with a foot on his head while the other handcuffed him.
He says the action took place after he was told he was being arrested, and he asked permission to put his dog in a pen before they handcuffed him and took him away.
The deputies have a different story, claiming Chevallier became agitated and raised his arm while holding scissors and did not comply with a deputy's command to put the scissors down.
"They sprayed me with that damn pepper spray, threw me on the ground, stood on top of my head, handcuffed and took me to jail," he claims.
Blue John said the arrest took place about 8 p.m. Monday night, Aug. 16, out at his garden spot on his property after he had an encounter with a tenant who had called the law once before. At that time, he was verbally told to stay away from the tenant.
The deputy's report says the complaining tenant phoned this time to say Blue John had taunted him and cussed him in the past trying to get him to fight and on this day Blue John was trying to get him to fight by calling him names.
Blue John claims he was sitting in a chair holding a pair of scissors he was using to cut tomato string when Corporal Joel Hand and Deputy Billy Floyd showed up Monday night.
He said Hand accused him of talking to the tenant after he had been told to stay away.
Blue John recalls challenging Hand by saying there was no court order in place to force him to stay away -- and Hand's response was to put him under arrest.
Blue John says he sustained injuries during his arrest, specifically when he was taken to the ground, and he had those injuries photographed the following day.
He said his jail time was minimal because a neighbor called former county sheriff Chuck Medford, a close friend, who had him released by 11 p.m

Carter and Kennedy

The cats are in my door way every morning waiting on breakfast. I wonder if they would catch a mouse if it happen by?probably not I may feed to well.
My nurse came back yesterday, I was glad to see her. She was on time spent a few minutes here and was gone like a summer breeze.
The grass is very wet this morning I believe it is due but could be rain.
I have been seeing reports on the news that the tea party candidates are taking over the republican part this fall. They are described as the extreme right so maybe the election will not be so drastic for the Democrats cause extreme any thing has very little chance in winning in a general election. I read where bill Clinton said the tea party candidates made George Bush look liberal.
I saw that Jimmy Carter is saying the people would have had national health insurance decades ago except for Ted Kennedy blocking Carters attempt to get it passed. seems to me that Jimmy Carter really carries a grudge to the extreme. We know he was so angry at Bill Clinton that he has waged a running spit ball attack on all that Bill does now it seems he feels the same way about Kennedy. I remember Harry Truman had some of the same traits as Carter.

president's wives

Democrat president's wives bother me and that is true of Obama's wife. Some fool some where decided she needs a "CAUSE" and she is showing up regularly in the news report telling the American people what and how they should eat. now she is telling the restaurant owners that they should provide more health choices to their customers. remember the garden at the white house? now any one knows Mrs. Obama wasn't growing that garden as soon as the news people went home some lowly worker took on the job and I don't think she harvested any of the vegetables either it was just a way to make us believe that she had an important job to do.
Oh, for the good ole days when we had Mrs George Bush who sat on the front porch down in Texas and read a book. I remember when Carter was president and they were sending Mrs. Carter all over the world and trying to say that the presidency was a joint venture by Jimmy and the first lady? I wish who ever it is that decides that the first ladies needs a cause would just shut up and go home . In a country who have citizens going to bed on streets hungry where children are living on the streets do we need a woman spending untold dollars telling us what we should eat? I think not. so please can we have less public appearances by the first lady and more action from the man who we elected to stop the war and to put people back to work so we can eat out and make our choices about what food we want.

Mrs Obama said "So today, you are all the heirs to that legacy. And you face a similar opportunity both as business owners -- but also as parents, not just to fulfill your obligations to shareholders, but to fulfill the obligation we all have to the next generation. So I hope that each of you will do your part to give our kids the future that we all know they deserve. And I want to truly thank you for what you have done, because you have done so much, and for what you’re going to do.I look forward to working with you all in the months and years ahead. Good luck to you all and God bless you and your families. Take care. Thank you."

Oh go home and take a look at your daughters that your mother is staying in the white house to care for while you run around trying to act like you are an important person with an important job.

blue eggs

I had a blue egg in the nest when I went to feed at 8 o'clock. that is a 3 blue eggs since the little hen started laying.
It is raining here and I had to go out in the rain to feed.

The guineas were getting wet but they can get in the dry if they wish. i don't like rain in the morning because I have to go feed in the rain or make the birds wait until it stops raining.
I wonder if these blue guineas lay blue eggs?

sexing bard rock chicks

male

female
SEX IDENTIFICATION IN PUREBREDSBARRED PLYMOUTH ROCKSIt had long been recognized that the size of the light headspots in Barred Plymouth Rocks varied in the two sexes. Themales tend to have larger headspots and the females to havedarker colored legs. However, this method has not been sufficientlyaccurate to be of much commercial value.Quinn and Knox (1939) attempted to separate the sexes of Barred Plymouth Rocks by means of the intensity of the blackpigment in the down and legs. In different lots of chicks they report 83.5, 86.1 and 91.8 percent accuracy.Jerome (1939) describes a method of sex identification in Barred Plymouth Rocks based upon the regularity of the outlineof the head spot rather than the size of the spot. Those chicks having headspots irregular in outline and scattered in appearanceare males while the females tend to have headspots withmore regular outlines. The author claimed an accuracy of 90percent or better when considering only the headspot and 95percent if the color of the legs was included in the consideration. The Canadian Department of Agriculture (Anonymous 1941)issues an excellently illustrated bulletin describing the method. It is stated in the bulletin that the method “is widely practicedin Barred Rock chicks by commercial chick sexers.” Sex identificationis based upon outline of head spot, color of legs andshade of down color. There are several types of male and female head spots some of which are shown in Figure 1.
